In the past several years, I've taken up cycling. It's the only
"exercise" I can tolerate without getting bored. I hate spinning (aka
stationary bikes) because the scenery never changes.
Advocacy
Friends of the Pacific Electric Trail
- A Rails-to-Trail group for the advocacy and support of the Pacific
Electric Rail line and bicycling in the city of Rancho Cucamonga,
California. Currently we're preparing for our 2nd annual bike-a-thon. I'm mostly doing all the event literature and design, simply because no one else wants to. (Not that I suck real bad at that.. )
Chat and Social
BikeForums - A bulletin board to find and meet other cyclists from all over.
BikeBoom Calendars - Cycling event calendars for Los Angeles and Orange County.
BikeSpace.Net - MySpace for cyclists
Mapping
Bikely - Find and create bike routes
Routeslip - Similar and newer than Bikely, but also creates printable route slips.
Gmap Pedometer -
The original Google Maps mashup. Doesn't have a database of routes, but
does create GPX files for exporting into other mapping programs.
